Two alumni (Dr Correta Jonah and Ms Winnie Sambu) and a centre Director (Professor Julian May) recently published an article on inequalities in child nutritional outcomes in three middle-income Africa countries; Ghana, Kenya, and Zambia. The research was based on Demographic and Health Survey data and argues for the need for continued focus on improving socio-economic levels of children living in the poorest households, both in rural and urban areas. The publication can be accessed on the journal’s website.
Coretta and Winnie both studied at the South African German Centre for Development Research (SA-GER CDR), while Julian May is part of the Steering Committee of the centre. Coretta and Julian are based at the DST/NRF Centre of Excellence in Food Security at the University of the Western Cape. Coretta is a researcher while Julian is the Director of the centre. Winnie is working towards a PhD degree at the University of Cape Town.
